Alexa Meade (born 1986 in Washington, D. C.) is an American artist known for her illusionistic paintings. She uses the Trompe-l'œil, which creates a three-dimensionality from the two-dimensional representation. With the peculiarity that she tries to reverse her predominantly lively motifs and consequential plastic effects to their opposite. Her goal is to make three-dimensional thins appear two-dimensional. [1] The results are moving, interactive paintings that irritate the eye when processing the spatial effect. [2 Childhood, youth and education. Alexa Meade was born in 1986 in Washington, D. C. In 2009 she received her bachelor's degree in political science at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. [3] [4] Meade never attended an art school, she taught herself to be self-taught. [5] In an interview, she explained that she did not have to think about painting as she did on a canvas because she had no practice in it. She saw painting as something that could be used anywhere. [6] In 2009, she decided to professionalize her work. [7] Technique: Alexa Meade paints a living motif. Meade uses acrylic paint for the surfaces of people and the objects around them in a style that mimics brushwork on a traditional painting. The dimensionality may be captured from multiple angles, but looks like a surface, comparable to a view through the lens of a camera, without visual effects. Curator Christian Furr of the Saatchi Gallery describes her work as "a progress of the actual trompe l'oeil. " [7] A member of the National Portrait Gallery said he was impressed. He thought he knew what he saw Now he knew that he did not know. [8] What's left are portraits in triplicate. "A photo of a person painting another and covering the person somewhere under it. " [9] Meade portrays in collaboration with artists such as the three-time Grammy Award winner Gotye. Feedback: Performance in the Washington Metro Magdalena Sawon, owner of the Postmasters Gallery in New York, said that "Alexa Meades work is a recognized, interesting contribution to the portrait genre. " [7] Dan Zak of the Washington Post describes her work as "courageous, focused and effective in the media, [she] sewed together her political and artistic sides and formed her into an election campaign for a long-term career in the arts. " [7]
