Aquired directly from the artist in the streets of Athens (1935) and remained to the same hands for all these years. Alexander Barkoff born on 4 September 1870 in Helsinki, Finland and died in 1942 in Athens. He studied at the Central School of Art and Design in 1890 and at the Finnish Art Association's School of Drawing in 1893–1897. He participated in the exhibitions of Finnish Artists in 1897, 1898, 1899, 1901 and 1905. Barkoff moved abroad in 1900 and lived mainly in Thessaloniki and Athens, Greece. He also spent long periods in Paris and Florence.
