Alfier - Red Gondola sculpture (45 cm) - Glass

Gondola sculpture entirely handmade in red Murano glass in paste. Each cane is entirely handmade by the artist aster glassmaker who prepares a special blend of minerals and chemicals mixed with soda and silica for each one. They are then melted and moulded together in the furnace at temperatures reaching 1200/1300 °C, so as to form a single mass. The cold milling process to define the gondola line is long and difficult. The gondola is stylized and reproduced in scale, with the same exact proportions and asymmetry that distinguish the symbolic boat of Venice.
