Alfons Mucha (1860 - 1939) POSTER OF THE LAND EXHIBITION IN IVANČICE

[ translate ]

1912
Coloured lithography on paper
92 x 55 cm (h x w)
Signed: Lower left in a plate "Mucha"

The poster was created by Mucha in 1912 for an exhibition that was to open to the public in 1913 in his native Ivančice. He is led by two Moravian girls in costumes and swallows circling above the tower of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Ivančice. Unfortunately, the exhibition did not take place, but this poster fortunately survived as a personal tribute to my hometown. The church also appears in watercolors from 1878. Later in 1903, at the height of his career in Paris, Mucha returned to this subject in the work A memory of Ivančice.
