Alfred Boucher trained with Joseph-Marius Ramus and later studied at l’École des Beaux Arts, Paris, later receiving the Grand Prix on more than one occasion. The present model was a favorite of Boucher’s and he executed several variations, each with exacting realism as in the present work.
