Alice Mary Burton, British 1893–1968 - Still life with flowers, 1966; oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left 'A M Burton 1966', 37.6 x 31.7 cm: together with another Still life oil on canvas by the same artist, signed and dated lower left 'A M Burton 1962', 35.3 x 25.2 cm (ARR) (2) Note: the first work is inscribed on the reverse 'painted by Alice Burton given as a wedding to EJB 1966'. The artist was a famous portraitist, making paintings of the Bishop of London amongst others. Her works are in public collections including Northampton Museums & Art Gallery, Fulham Palace and the National Museum of Wales. These two paintings demonstrate her confident style and deft use of colour.
