Aliz Gosztonyi (1899-1970) - Large sculpture of a nude woman

Beautifully detailed large art deco style sculpture of a woman, by Aliz Gosztonyi, the Hungarian sculptor from 1929. Rare piece, in nice condition, in some places with glaze wear, please, see the pictures. The artist's signature is on the base. Dimensions: 49 x 33 x 24 cm Aliz Gosztonyi: Hungarian sculptor, painter, draftswoman, renowned portrait sculptor of her time. She studied art at the Akademie der Bilden in Vienna, Künsten, in Budapest at the Strawberry Garden, at the Munich College of Fine Arts, and at the Paris College of Fine Arts. She was a student of Zsigmond Kisfaludi Stróbl and Miklós Ligeti. In the ’20s and ’30s she became a well-known court sculptor of many royal and aristocratic houses. Her best-known public work is in Budapest, the bronze well statue with the Children's Dog (1930) . In 1938 she emigrated to America. She worked mostly for churches and cartoon studios (May Fleischer Studios, MGM Studios, Walt Disney Studios) , taught in art schools, illustrated books, and designed jewelry.
