Provenance: Coll. stamp Franciscus Bauweraerts (L. 3325) Two barges moored next to a large rock; men unloading the boats at far r; another group of four men with a dinghy in left foreground; and a hut atop the rock at centre; from a series of eight landscapes. Etching Signed with monogram AVE in bottom middle on the rock. Reference: Hollstein 58. IV Bartsch II. 192. 58 Allaert van Everdingen (printmaker; painter/draughtsman; Dutch; 1621 - 1675) Painter, draughtsman, etcher. Also collector and dealer of Italian, Dutch and Flemish paintings. Born in Alkmaar and mainly working in Amsterdam. 1640-43 pupil of Roelant Savery in Utrecht and of Pieter Molyn in Haarlem. Travelled to Norway and Sweden in 1644-45 in connection with his business as a timber-merchant. Father of Cornelis ; teacher of Ludolf Bakhuizen and Gerard van Edema.
