Piëta sculpture, probably made of limestone, polychrome painted, signed by the Belgian art sculptor Alois de Beule who was well known and in high demand for the design of religious pieces for churches and cities. In 1888, Alois won the prize of best sculptor early on, together with his brother he set up a studio to create great works of art where he had 10 people among him in the teachings. Alois still has large monuments in Belgium, especially the Ghent cities and a museum has been made after him, Alois was born 1861 and died in 1935. The last 2 photos with (sculpture) information about the artist. This beautiful Piëta sculpture from limestone dates back to about 1900 for city and church Lede.
