With the "Seastrong Diver Gyre" collection, the brand Alpina makes a statement regarding the protection of our oceans and their sustainable use. For the first time in its history, the case consists of 70% plastic waste collected in fishing nets in the Indian Ocean. It is reinforced with 30% glass fibres to guarantee its durability. Technological innovation, craftsmanship and an ecological manifesto are the driving forces behind the development of the Gyre collection. It emerged from a collaboration between the brand Alpina and the watch journalist Bernhard Werk who made it his task to free the Indian Ocean of plastic waste. The models are limited to 1883 pieces per edition. They are powered by a precise Swiss made automatic movement with the calibre AL-525 with three hands and date. The 26 jewel bearings ensure perfect accuracy. The watch case has a diameter of approx. 44 mm and a height of approx. 12 mm. There is a date display on the dial at three o'clock. The typical Alpina lettering decorates the 12 o'clock position. To make sure that the time can be read easily in darkness as well, the hands and indices are coated with a phosphorescent material and are luminous assuming the watch was exposed to a light source beforehand. The bezel rotates in one direction and reminds of the nautical heritage of the Seastrong collection. The dial is protected by a luxurious sapphire crystal that is especially scratch-resistant. Due to the screwed case back, the water resistance of the watch has been tested up to 30 bar and it can be used without any problems while diving at a shallow depth. With the bicoloured Nato strap, Alpina also takes up the vision of Bernhard Werk. It is made of recycled plastic loops and particularly durable. The strap can be fastened with a buckle. In addition to the NATO strap, a black strap made of plant-based leather is also included in the delivery. The packaging of the watch is ecologically responsible as well and consists of recycled paper and PET bottles. To further reduce its ecological footprint, Alpina also decided to create a paperless handbook accessible via a QR code. It contains information regarding the concept of the watch, its materials, as well as user instructions and maintenance guidelines. Special characteristics: limited edition \t Swiss made.
