Hardwood Altar Coffer LIANSANCHU with Fittings Hardwood brass fittings China Traditional Liansanchu cabinet Table top with upward curled finials, front with two rectangular drawers above a pair of cabinet doors with brass fitting and lock The wood with vivid reddish-brown color with distinct grain Dimensions: 91 x 138 x 51. 5 cm The Western term ‘altar coffer’ arose from old photographs showing these cabinets used as family altars. However, they were not limited to this use and were also used to store domestic objects. Larger versions can still be found in Chinese temples and monasteries. Condition: The altar table is in good restored condition with usual signs of age and wear.
