Exceptional Late 19th century, Meiji period, Japan. Very large Kyozukue (sutra table) . Of very great finesse and quality, this altar was used by Buddhists to read passages from the Sutras, the Sanskrit precepts (teaching texts) . 68 cm long, it is completely covered with gold leaf under black lacquer. Height 31 cm! Magnificent details made by the hand of a great master cabinetmaker without any doubt. An exceptional collector's item. Sold with books.
