Amazing-Man Comics #22 (Centaur, 1941) CGC GD 2.0 Off-white pages. This Golden Age classic cover is a remarkably tough find! We've only offered this scarce wartime comic three times previously, with our last offering of a CGC 1.5 copy ending at $12,000 in 2019, and GPAnalysis only lists six sales in the last decade of any CGC copies. There are currently only 18 listed on the CGC Census, with only 12 in Universal grades. Gerber rates the book as "uncommon", but we would rank it among the scarcest of all Golden Age Nazi covers! The book's classic cover, by Paul Gustavson, features a Nazi soldier commanding Nazi gorillas, with Hitler himself making an appearance within the story. This issue also contains the last Iron Skull and Shark appearances, with art by Al Bryant. This is the epitome of weird World War II propaganda, a favorite subject among Golden Age collectors. Overstreet currently ranks this book #63 on their list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics, tied with all-time greats Punch Comics #12 and Mask Comics #1, among others. Overstreet values are mere astrological projections for a book this rare, selling at multiples of current guide values even five years ago. We are excited to offer this scarce gem and look forward to lively bidding. CGC notes, "Two extra staples added after manufacturing. Tape on cover." Overstreet 2023 GD 2.0 value = $3,000. CGC census 3/24: 2 in 2.0, 7 higher. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
