The Farewell series deals with the artist going through a divorce and connecting with religion. Words embedded in the imagery include: Desire, Lust, Self, My and Me, along with words in Urdu. The Madonna depicted is drawn after a painted terracotta work by maiano of the Virgin and Child, c. 1495, at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston, where Butt did an artist residency in 1999.

Condition Report: Framed behind acrylic measuring 25 x 21 inches. Good condition. Hinged at all four corners, not examined out of frame.
