American Daguerreians, c.1850s A SELECTION OF PORTRAITS, c.1850s. Comprising seven sixth plate examples; three portraits by Rufus Anson of 589 Broadway, one head and shoulders portrait of a gentleman by W.A Wellway of 546 Broadway, with a gilted floral decoration to cover (lid detached), an unmarked portrait of two married couples, an unmarked portrait of a gentleman with ornate embossed candelabra design to the top lid, a portrait of a mother and child in an unusual Wolfert's Roost case, and finally a quarter plate, hand-coloured portrait of a mother with her three children, by McIntyre of 663 Broadway, in a case decorated with the Great Seal of the United States; a bald eagle clutching four arrows, an olive branch and surrounding by 27 stars, presumably dating it to 1845.
