American Giraffe Carousel Figure

An early 20th century Giraffe Carousel figure by the Philadelphia Toboggan Co., c. 1905. Hollow body construction with carved detail and original polychrome painted finish, features the standing figure with inset glass eyes, carved mane and saddle with mask cantle and scrolled trappings with tassel drops. One glass eye reads "PBC 7-1-44". Some surface wear, chips and minor touch-ups, older restoration to right ear and eye socket, some shrinkage and joint separation, right rear leg loose, some loss to hooves. 78 1/2" high.
