third quarter 19th century, the serpentine back with floral- and leaf-carved crests, the back wrapping around to closed arms, a scalloped serpentine seat rail and cabriole legs, now upholstered in tufted and patterned cut velvet.

Condition Report: In overall very good condition. The piece is sturdy and functional. The surface appears to have been refinished in the past, now with some minor mars and wear. Upholstery is in very good condition. The crests are attached with a pair of dowels, but not presently glued, rendering a small amount of play in them. One of the dowels is broken off on one crest, leaving it only secured by one dowel and loose. In bright sunlight, the upholstery reads a bit more purple and less brown than in the catalogue photo.
