Amethyst Goboboseb Mountains, Brandberg Area, Dâures Constituency, Erongo Region, Namibia 8.1 x 4.9 x 4.7 cm (3.19 x 1.93 x 1.85 in) This striking Goboboseb Amethyst specimen features two sharply formed crystals rising from the center of a gently concaving host rock matrix. Both crystals are exceptionally gemmy and display the locality's signature deeply saturated purple phantoms, framed by glassy, colorless outer zoning that enhances their higher degree of transparency. The larger crystal, measuring 7.2 centimeters, is doubly terminated, while its smaller companion crystal shows very pronounced sceptering. The smaller crystal emerges neatly alongside its more robust counterpart. From the collection of John Warn [NAM2170a].
