Ammonite Fossil Cluster Cleoniceras sp. Cretaceous Madagascar A veritable invertebrate fossil ecosystem in its own right, this mass of prehistoric marine life presented as a work of Natural History art is visually overwhelming, to say the least. A matrix of fossil cephalopod varieties plays host to a significant number of Ammonites of various types, including several quite large examples of Cleoniceras, which display colorful mineral replacement, intense diagnostic complex suture lines, and remnant preserved shell nacre. The largest of the attached Ammonites measures 9 inches (23 cm) in diameter. While many such examples are effectively produced to look this way, the end result is what matters. The artistic and decorative impact cannot be quantified, and the fossils are authentic in most cases. The polished shells sticking out from this cluster are truly magnificent and showcase many different qualities of the ancient ocean inhabitants. This is one large, heavy, and impactful sculpture of fossils teeming with an abundance of fossilized "life" at every twist and turn. The sheer volume of the individual fossils on this offering is astronomical, and the quality of the larger examples is exceptional.
