[ translate ]

Rare heteromorph ammonites Spiny Crioceratites majoricensis mortality plate from the Upper Hauterivian, zona baleare. Amazing and rare cluster with Two 3D spiny ammonites. The Crioceratites are well preserved and inflated, not smashed. This museum quality Crioceratites specimen was discovered and prepared by a renowned fossil preparator and collector . Many painstaking hours of work was needed to expose the three-dimensional form of the fossil from the matrix. Note that spines rarely fossilize, are incredibly difficult to prepare and some likely wore off during the ammonite's lifetime. In this specimen spines have been reconstructed when the specimen is been prepared to show how it might have appeared in life. Restoration notes: 100% of the spines are reconstructed and glued into their original anatomical position. Biggest ammonite is 10 cm from spine to spine. Smallest ammonite is 9 cm from spine to spine. Note: Some repairs and cracks are present as normal as the stone is quite fragile. This Is not made by a factory! It looks great from every angle and would be an amazing display in a home, office or museum
