With bright slightly curved pipe-back blade double-edged towards the point (reduced during the sword's working life), the forte on both sides etched with crowned IV cypher between bound branches of laurel, regulation two-bar hilt swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, downcurved lobed rear quillon, stepped ovoidal pommel and back-piece in one, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip, in its steel scabbard (polished, some pitting) with two suspension rings
