An American watchmakers lathe Goodell-Pratt, Greenfield MA, early 20th century The 7.75 inch channelled cast iron bed with flattened upper surface and incorporating integral headstock enclosing four graduated pulleys to the spindle, fitted with a four-jaw chuck, compound slide toolpost and tailstock comprising cast two-part armature incorporating screw-thread depthing and spindle clamp, the whole standing on webbed upright terminating with a circular flange drilled for bench mounting at the headstock end opposing later steel plate support behind the tailstock, the bed applied with trade plate Goodell-Pratt Company, Toolsmiths, Greenfield, Mass, U.S.A., 34.4cm (13.5ins) long overall.
