An Anatolian bronze head of a bull
An Anatolian bronze head of a bull, c. 2200 - 2000 BC, with flattened head with triangular recession for inlay, wide horns turned upward, protruding eyes and long tubular muzzle. The head sits atop a long biconical attachment, and there is a suspension hole through neck. This item was likely part of a large piece, perhaps a box or piece of furniture. A very handsome and rare example! H: 1 1/3 in (3.4cm), L: 2 1/2 in (6.4cm). Attractive patination. Ex estate of Seward Kennedy, New York. Mr. Kennedy worked for decades as a lawyer for the Mobil Corporation, and acquired his collection throughout decades of travel beginning in the 1950's.
