An Attic black glazed lekanis
An Attic black glazed lekanis, c. 5th Century BC, with flared ring foot and stepped rim to fit a lid, which is now lost. The elaborate handles are likely originally from another vessel and restored to this vessel, although it would appear to be very well done, and is quite attractive looking. W: 8 1/2 in (21.6 cm). Nice glossy black surfaces. Ex German private collection, acquired in the 1970's.
