Depicting Avalokiteshvara enthroned at the centre within a palace setting, surrounded by various Buddhas, bodhisattvas and donor figures with offerings, amidst an ocean, filled with numerous diminutive, finely painted scenes. Mount Potalaka is believed to be an island in the seas south of India. Inscriptions to the reverse. Gouache and gold on cloth. Brocade mounting. Wear.
