An Eastern European sword, Hungarian period, 9th - 10th centuryMinimally curved blade, mostly blunt on the back and only double-edged in front of the tip (approx. 15 cm). Upper section of the blade approx. 28 mm wide, with approx. 12 cm wide bevel. 11.6 cm long tang, slightly curved in the opposite direction to the blade, with two rivet holes. At the transition from tang to blade, a 6 mm wide iron band is wrapped around the blade. 10.5 cm wide, straight guard with roof-shaped profile and diamond motif in the middle of the display side. Total length 85.7 cm. Minimal rust scars. Extremely well-preserved, professionally restored, desalinated and stabilized iron sword.Provenance: South German private collection.Condition: II
