signed on the printed trade label E Culpeper Sculp. London, with ebonised and turned wood ocular support, green leather draw tube tooled with gilt lining, grey ray-skin covered outer tube, support on three columns above a circular stage with sprung slide holder and with mirror below, in original oak pillar case with Culpeper's crossed dagger trade label applied to the back, with drawer in the base fitted with four objectives, tweezers, etched glass stage mount and set of bone mounted specimen slides, together with a folded set of instructions titled The Description and Use of CULPEPER'S new-invented Sett of double Microscopes, Made and Sold by him only, at the Black and White House, in Middle-Moore-Fields and under the Royal-Exchange, LONDON, the microscope 14in (36cm high), the case 18in x 7in x 6 1/2in (46cm x 18cm x 16 1/2cm)
