An Egyptian faience scarab with a solar barque, Late New Kingdom - 3rd Intermediate Period, c. 1296 - 664 BC, the body of good style with open-work legs, on base a hieroglyphic inscription bestowing protection from the god Amun-Re, a reassurance that there is no fear under the sun's watchful gaze. 22.5 x 15mm. Remnants of pale green glaze. Ex collection of Gustave Mustaki formed in the mid-20th Century.
