An English Cup-Hilt Rapier, Early 17th Century
With associated tapering double-edged blade with traces of incised running wolf mark and letters on each side at the forte, iron hilt comprising guard pierced with petals each framing trelliswork, and with pierced border above joined to downscrolled quillons and scrolled side-bars, the latter each joined to the knuckle-guard with central moulding, fluted globular pommel chiselled with foliage above and below, and wooden grip bound with twisted and plaited copper wire and copper ribbon (binding loose, some pitting)
