Late 17th Century, Indistinct Silver Marks, Maker's Mark GS
With curved blade (old pitting) double-edged towards the point and struck with a profile king's head mark on both sides towards the forte, cast and chased hilt comprising slightly downbent side-guard with a Classical figure between foliage against a punched ground, the inner side with three plain bands between punched grounds, moulded border with a cherub's head between foliage on both sides, lobed rear quillon en suite, later knuckle-guard with central foliate oval, basal mount embossed and chased with a winged cherub's head on each side, and tapering agate grip of flattened swelling section beaked on each side at the top and with engraved silver cap
