An Extremely Rare Pair of Chinese Export Famille-Rose Goose-Form Tureens and Covers, Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period, Circa 1780
清乾隆 約1780年 粉彩鵝形湯盆一對

each naturalistically and boldly modeled, the raised head supported by a long curving neck, the body finely enameled with sepia plumage, the folded wings molded with overlapping feathers in green, turquoise, iron-red, and sepia with details picked out in gilding, the webbed feet tucked under the body

Height 16 in., 40.6 cm

Condition Report:
Both covers and one base in overall good condition. The remaining base with a minor chip to the left outer claw, now well restored, and a minute chip to the interior lip of the base, otherwise in good condition. Overall with light surface wear to the enamels and typical firing imperfections. The interior of covers and underside of bases inscribed in black ink initials 'LMR' or 'MR'.

Because this lot was imported into the United States after September 1, 2020, it is subject to an import tariff of 7.5% of the value declared upon entry into the United States. $30,000, plus applicable sales tax will be included on your invoice unless you instruct Sotheby's to arrange shipping of the lot to a foreign address.
