Russian School, 19th Century. An icon of a saint in armor and red cloak, possibly Saint George. Tempera on wood panel. Unsigned. 7" x 5 1/2" (inner frame within shadowbox frame/kiot 10" x 8 3/4"). With owner's Russian inscription verso, describing the piece as a blessing from a grandmother. Condition: overall good, some areas of wear/loss at edges. The inner frame with losses/old repairs; the kiot with cracks, losses, old repairs, and other wear commensurate with age. Provenance: Private Collection, Northern California.
