An Icon of Christ and Theotokos with Beaded Shroud, in Kiot.

Eastern Europe, 19th/20th Century. A painted icon of the Dormition of the Theotokos, Mother of God, with Christ swaddling the Soul of the Virgin; the shroud beaded and embellished with what appear to be freshwater pearls, with an ornate foil liner and faux flower in a scalloped shadowbox frame/kiot; 12" x 10 1/2" x 3 1/2". Condition: the glass missing, replaced with plastic; the kiot with scattered wormholes and wear commensurate with age. Provenance: Private Collection; Northern California.
