Eastern Europe, 19th/20th Century. An icon of the Body of Christ (Epitaphios), painted on wood, with beaded shroud, with an elaborate foil liner embellished with paper angels on velvet, in a scalloped shadowbox frame/kiot. 12" x 13 1/4" x 3 1/2". Condition: glass missing, replaced with plastic; some wormholes in wood, and other wear commensurate with age. Provenance: Private Collection, Northern California.
