Eastern Europe, 19th/20th Century. An icon of the Body of Christ (Epitaphios), painted on wood, with beaded and faux jeweled shroud, the altar cloth beaded and embroidered velvet, with red velvet beaded and trimmed curtain above, what appears to be a few freshwater pearls, and an ornate foil liner in a rectangular shadowbox frame/kiot. 11 1/2" 13" x 2 3/4". Condition: glass missing, replaced with plastic; the kiot with some wormholes, and wear commensurate with age. Provenance: Private Collection, Northern California.
