Eastern Europe, 19th/20th Century. An icon of the Mandylion, the Holy Face, and archangels Michael and Gabriel, painted on wood, their garments of beaded blue and red velvet, and what appear to be a few freshwater pearls, the cloth and wings beaded and trimmed white velvet, with an ornate foil liner in a rectangular shadowbox frame/kiot; 12 1/4" x 13 1/4" x 3 1/4". Condition: the glass missing, replaced with plastic; the kiot with scattered wormholes, and wear commensurate with age. Provenance: Private Collection, Northern California.
