Eastern Europe, 19th/20th Century. An icon of the Dormition of the Theotokos, Mother of God, painted on wood, with beaded and faux jeweled shroud with what appear to be freshwater pearls, and beaded embroidered dark blue altar cloths, with an ornate foil liner in a scalloped edge shadowbox frame/kiot. 9" x 10 1/2" x 3 1/2". Condition: glass missing, replaced with plastic; some wormholes to back of kiot, and wear commensurate with age. Provenance: Private Collection, Northern California.
