Footnote: The front lion headed monopodia relate to the chimera supports designed by Thomas Hope for a console table, the drawing for which is illustrated in Household Furniture, 1807, pl. XV, 3. Another similar support design with carved acanthus sheaths featured on a tripod table is illustrated in Household Furniture, 1807, pl. XV, 1.

This lot exemplifies the style of Mack, Williams and Gibtons furniture with its richly figured timbers, generous proportions, robust carving and characteristically Irish decoration. The bold gadrooned edges, lion monopodia and scale relate to a sideboard by Mack, Williams and Gibton sold from the Collection of Tony Ingrao, Sothebys New York, 20 October 2006, lot 68. Dimensions: Condition Report: Structurally sound. Well made. Decorative elements nicely carved. With an even red/brown color to timber overall. Areas of overpainted restoration. General marks, scratches, some cracking and wear With a shrinkage crack to right side of top near plate slots. Back panels possibly reconfigured. Uprights to back appear to be replacements. Vacant holes to reverse of splash board. Some darkening to brass elements.
