An Irish Silver Shield. Oval shield is decorated with Celtic knots and mythological animals. Round element at top of frame bears a crest of the Matheson Clan; Fac et Spera. Lower portion of frame is stamped "Designed & Manufactured by Sharman D. Neill Belfast". Further stamped "S.D. Neill Belfast". Shield is hallmarked in several places for Glasgow, 1890. The shield has been retrofitted for use as a mirror 31" x 23" Approximate weight: 138 ozt
