An Irish silver Arts & Crafts style teapot and similar hot water pot.
An Irish silver Arts & Crafts style teapot and similar hot water pot, each with a domed inset flush hinge lid and flared neck above a plain bulbous body to a similarly flared footed base, and a zoomorphic handle with Celtic knot motifs to mounts, the hot water pot with further zoomorphic detail to spout. Hallmarked James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler, Dublin 1902 and 1903. Height including finials 6.25" (15.5cm), gross weight 33.45 ozt (1040.3 grams).
Condition Report:
- Both displaying general surface wear and tarnishing marks. Also surface scratches, marks and nicks, all commensurate with the age and use.
- Foot of hot water pot appears slightly thinner on one side.
- Hinged lids both appear in working order and close almost flush. Lid of hot water rises very slightly. Hinges of teapot lid very loose so probably missing a pin.
- Handles with ivory insulators, some heavier marks around the hinge pins.
- Lid finials differ slightly in decoration, although they are the same shape.
- Hallmarks rubbed, more heavily to teapot. Both lids further struck with Crowned Harp.
- Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
