An Italian Console Table
Rome, early 18th century, elaborately carved hardwood and softwood on cabriole legs, with ornamental and floral motifs and in the shape of rocailles, gilded, the frieze with mascarons, cross-shaped stretcher with matching carved decor, later stone top with marble application (“diaspro di Sicilia”), the latter with chipping to the right corner, c. 96 x 153 x 77 cm, some flaking of paint and signs of abrasion, signs of age and use, several parts missing.
