An M 1845 helmet for dragoon troopers
Tall brass cup (small dents, scattered cracks) with brass fittings. Circumferential turban, laced at the back, made of old imitation leopard fur (small missing patches). Embossed crest featuring a grenade symbol on the front, fishbladder decoration on the sides, and a Gorgon’s head, from which hangs a black horsehair plume (significantly shortened). At the top, a black hair tuft (“marmouset”); side tassels with a restored feather tuft. Leather-lined chain straps (replaced) attached to radially embossed rosettes. Front and rear panels lined with black-brown leather; good-quality black leather lining on the flaps. On the crown, the stamped numbers “585” and “54” as well as “3” and “L” in an oval. Some screw fastenings have been replaced. Partially slightly damaged, repairs, signs of age.
