An Ottoman yatagan, dated 1794
Slightly curved single-edged blade with smith's mark on the quart side, engraved inscription and date “1208” (= 1794). Later hilt and blade mountings of brass, the two horn grip panels silver-mounted at the pommel and decorated with star-shaped brass inlays. Wooden scabbard fully carved in relief, covered with leather and sewn with wire. Length 72 cm.
