An Ushak carpet

An Ushak carpet, the central navy field decorated overall with a stylised flowerhead pattern, within madder borders and guard stripes, approximately 653 x 432cm

Condition Report:
Wear overall. Patches of additional wear reveal underlying weft. Some fading and variation in colour between different areas of the carpet. Multiple small holes worn to the central field (see images). One larger hole approx 10x6cm. Various losses to one end. A canvas backing has been used to help secure remaining elements. The other end with sewn cuts and a repaired tear (see images). A fabric backing has also been used in this repair. Some small losses to pile, possibly from old moth damage. Fringing with fraying and losses. The binding of the longest edges with wear and sections of loss, they also undulate slightly. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
