An attractive Gnathian-ware ribbed bottle, Apulia, c. 330 - 300 BC, the ovoid body with vertical ribbing on pedestal foot. The neck narrows with decorative 'collar' below horizontal bands; vertical lines above. The wide, collared rim with painted triangles around the outside. An elegant shape used for storing oil or perfume. H: 7 in (17.8 cm). Moderate surface deposits. Ex German private collection acquired in the 1920's-30's.
