An attractive Hellenistic round-nozzled ceramic lamp

An attractive Hellenistic round-nozzled ceramic lamp, 2nd - 1st Century BC, a type known to have been manufactured at Ephesus. Of graceful style, the fill-hole is bordered by a ledge and the shoulders with impressed floral decoration, the nozzle long with wide-flat rim. At the back of the lamp is a ring handle with two vertical grooves and on the base an oval pad foot. L: 4 3/4 in (12 cm). Type Howland 49A; Well-preserved with black slip.
