An early 19th century French 18 carat gold needle case, Paris circa 1810-1817 by Antonie Beauvisage (reg. c.1810 – 7th August 1832) Of tapering octagonal form, with chased decoration of repeating motifs. Pull off lid. Marked with maker mark, Paris guarantee mark for 3rd standard (750/1000) small guarantee for Paris as well as the small guarantee for Paris for unknown origin, these two respectively used from 1st September 1809 until 15th August 1819. Length – 6.5 cm / 2.55 inches Weight – 4 grams / 0.129 ozt Antonie Beauvisgae active at 54 Rue Ste Avoye in 1811 and 41 rue du Fbg-St-Martin in 1813 and 67 rue Meslay in 1827 (Arminjon, C. et al No 19) A gold fitted Moroccan leather necessaire by this maker was sold Christie’s, Geneva, 17 May 1994, Lot 31, (CHF 1,725 incl. premium)
