An early 19th century carved shell cameo necklace and earrings suite,
in a fitted case by Cameo Corner Ltd, 26 Museum Street London WC1. A series of graduated oval carved shell scene cameos, to include depictions of The Night Goddess, Nyx floats through the night sky, cradling her two children Hypnos and Thanatos, Cupid and Dionysus, Centaur and a maiden, all in rub over settings, joined by three baby belcher chain swags, to a concealed box clasp. The earrings with a pair of matching chains graduated to an oval shell cameo top, with screw fittings. Tested as approximately 18ct gold. Later screw fittings, marked 9ct. Accompanied by the original receipt from Cameo Corner, dated 1972, and an insurance valuation from Cameo Corner of the same date.
