An early 20th century Dutch metalwares silver centrepiece bowl

Van Eldik & A.F. van der Scheer, Zutphen and a further indistinct (probably standard) mark, with an additional 'Swan M' mark indicating items imported into France of at least 800/1000 silver standard and examined at Marseille Assay Office, of oval form, the pierced frame of repeating oval motifs between two plain rails, raised on six decorative tapering legs with ball and claw feet, cast foliate garlands swagged between each leg, blue glass liner supported on a lower frame, 25 x 17cm, 10.9ozt weighable silverFootnote: The partnership of Bernardus Warnerus van Eldik & A.F. van der Scheer (also known as Hollandia Zilversmeden) was founded by Eldik in 1917. He was a descendent of a prominent family of Dutch silversmiths, and they produced a wide variety of silverware, mainly in the old Dutch style. The company closed in 1950.
