An early 20th century platinum, emerald and diamond cluster ring.

An early 20th century platinum, Colombian emerald and diamond cluster ring. The rectangular-shape emerald, with single-cut diamond surround and shoulders, to the grooved sides. Verbal from GCS, stating Colombia, minor enhancement. Estimated dimensions of emerald 7.9 by 4.2 by 3.3mms. Estimated total diamond weight 0.25ct. Ring size M1/2. Weight 2.7gms. Purchasing information Overall condition good. Some surface scratches and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Diamonds bright and well matched. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

Emerald is a deep medium, moderately vibrant slightly bluish green hue. Moderate, typical inclusions including some surface reaching features. Minor abrasions. Length of ring head 1.1cms. Apparently erroneous eagle head mark to the back of the band. Electronically tests as platinum. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked.
